What is BodyRevisit?

One practice. Many pathways.

We approach the body holistically, meeting body, mind and spirit as deeply connected and inseparable.

BodyRevisit brings hands-on bodywork, movement, breath and attentive listening into one adaptable approach. Rather than following a fixed sequence, each session responds to what you bring and what supports you that day. The work draws from different hands-on and movement practices and is available in Athens and Berlin, with selected sessions also available online.

BodyRevisit is the house; the modalities are different doors. What holds them together is not one technique, but a way of meeting the person.

Mata Sakka, creator of BodyRevisit

Mata Sakka is the creator of BodyRevisit, a movement therapist, movement educator, professional dancer and bodywork practitioner.

Rather than treating these different fields as separate systems, she lets each form inform the others and listens for what each person needs.

She works in English, German and Greek, in person and online.

Nervous-system awareness informs how we work: we notice breath, effort and responses, and adjust the pace together.

Hands-on sessions may also draw on Thai Yoga Massage: work in comfortable clothing, with attentive touch, supported movement and stretches adapted to your pace and comfort.

02 — The invitation

First, we arrive.

We begin by observing and feeling—without needing to change anything. Calmness, support and the sense of being in good hands create the ground from which the body can let go, communicate and be met.

The philosophy

Less fixing. More listening.

Feel everything. Assume less.

BodyRevisit begins with a simple understanding: body, mind and spirit are not separate parts. They are deeply connected and inseparable.

What we live through can influence how we breathe, move, rest, protect ourselves and connect with others. At the same time, the human system is adaptable; patterns are not necessarily permanent.

Breath is approached as information, not as an instruction to relax. Before trying to change it, we notice its rhythm, pauses and the conditions around it.

Through attentive touch, movement, breath, stillness and compassionate human connection, we create conditions in which another experience can become possible. We do not impose correction or promise a fast fix. We begin with questions, meet the whole person and follow the body’s rhythm.

Your first session

Nothing to perform. Nothing to prove.

We begin with a conversation. You do not need a diagnosis or a perfect explanation. Together, we notice what is present and agree on the pace, the form of touch and the direction of the session.

03 — The BodyRevisit method

A conversation beneath words.

More than thirty years of movement, dance and embodied practice meet Qigong, yoga, Shiatsu, massage, breath, nervous-system awareness and deep relaxation.

Modern care is often fragmented: one approach for the body, another for the mind, another for the spirit. In fast-moving lives and workplaces, wellbeing can become another quick fix—manage the symptom, restore performance and move on. BodyRevisit offers a different process. We approach the body holistically, meeting body, mind and spirit as deeply connected and inseparable. We do not force an outcome or supply ready-made answers. We listen, ask questions and work with what emerges. For individuals and teams, this creates conditions for sustainable recovery, clearer awareness, connection and renewed capacity.

A questioning practice

We keep learning—and remain honest about what we know.

BodyRevisit evolves through continuing study, practice and careful observation. New ideas are not accepted simply because they are fashionable or presented as scientific. Research matters. So do professional experience and the knowledge each person carries about their own body. Where evidence is still developing, we remain transparent, humble and curious.

  1. 01Is it safe?
  2. 02Is it biologically plausible?
  3. 03What does current research support?
  4. 04Is it useful in practice?

Mata Sakka

The practice behind BodyRevisit

Asymmetrical close portrait of Mata Sakka

“The more I learned to listen, the less I needed to impose. The session became a space where something new could unfold.”

My relationship with the body began long before BodyRevisit had a name.

For more than thirty years, I have worked with the body through professional dance, movement education and performance, and later through yoga, Qigong, Shiatsu, massage, breath, meditation and body-based practices.

Over time, these practices stopped feeling like separate disciplines. Movement changed the way I understood touch. Touch changed the way I understood movement. Dance taught me about effort, adaptation, attention and the intelligence of a body responding in real time.

What gradually became BodyRevisit grew from this meeting place—and from a question that continues to guide my work:

What does this person, and this body, need right now?

I continue to work with individuals, dancers and performers, groups, workplaces and professional environments. BodyRevisit is one expression of a much wider life in movement, teaching, performance and bodywork.

“Mata has exceptional embodiment and knowledge. She brings excellence, commitment, dedication and passion to everything she does.”
— Fernando, colleague & movement educator

Before you arrive

Do I need to know which modality to choose?

No. You may begin with BodyRevisit or with a familiar form such as Shiatsu or massage. We decide together what is supportive today.

How should I prepare for my session?

No special preparation is needed. For Shiatsu, wear clean, comfortable clothing that allows you to move freely. Deep-tissue and other oil-based massage is usually received in underwear with secure, professional draping; only the area being treated is uncovered. I use high-quality body oils and creams. Fragrance-free products are always available, and aromatherapy oils are used only if we choose them together. Please tell me about any allergies or sensitivities.

Who is BodyRevisit for?

Adults of every age are welcome—from 18 to 98 and beyond. Every session is adapted to your body, mobility, experience and pace.

Is BodyRevisit available online?

Yes. Online sessions use movement, breath, self-massage, body awareness, relaxation and guided imagery.

Do I have to talk about everything?

No. Words are welcome, but they are not demanded. The body can be met gently, at your pace.

05 — Client reflections

Words from the people I have accompanied.

Personal experiences and reflections are shared here—with the permission of each client.

“From the very first session, I felt incredibly comfortable and safe with her.”

I found Mata after several years of talk therapy, when I became curious about what else might be stored in my body that I couldn’t reach through talking and understanding alone.

“Over time, Shiatsu with Mata has helped me listen to my body more closely, notice its signals earlier and understand better what it needs.”

I found Mata after several years of talk therapy, when I became curious about what else might be stored in my body that I couldn’t reach through talking and understanding alone. My therapist recommended Shiatsu – and more than a year later, I still see Mata every month.

From the very first session, I felt incredibly comfortable and safe with her. Mata has such a warm and genuine presence, and I love that her sessions are never just about the body. We talk about what’s going on in my life, how I’m feeling and what my body is telling me. She really sees the whole person.

And then there are her “Mata Magic Hands”. :) It’s hard to explain, but somehow she always seems to find exactly what needs attention. Especially during my first year, I would often walk out of her sessions feeling like I was on a cloud – so soft, light and almost floating. I’ve walked in feeling completely out of balance or in physical pain and left feeling much more connected to myself.

Over time, Shiatsu with Mata has helped me listen to my body more closely, notice its signals earlier and understand better what it needs.

Seeing her has become such a valuable part of taking care of myself. It’s the conversation, the bodywork, the warmth, the genuine hugs and, most of all, the feeling of being seen as a person.

I’m incredibly grateful that I found her. 🩷

“She has my complete trust.”

I was impressed by how she presented different approaches as an offer, as an invitation and never as dogma.

“Her sessions are grounding, relaxing and deeply soothing.”

For over 15 years I have been coming to Mata’s body sessions, and yes, she is simply the best. She has my complete trust: she is wise, intelligent, funny and an excellent body therapist. I remember our early sessions, when she spoke to me about spiritual approaches, and I was impressed by how she presented them as an offer, as an invitation and never as dogma. She has an exceptional understanding of people. Her sessions are grounding, relaxing and very, very soothing. Simply the best! : )

“Mata has an understanding of movement on a deep level and brings her experience of many years to each session.”

As a professional dancer for the past 25 years, it can be a challenge to find the right bodyworkers who understand what it means to work with the body as an instrument on a daily basis. Mata has an understanding of movement on a deep level and brings her experience of many years to each session. I always feel very well taken care of and secure in her gentle yet supportive presence. Which reminds me, I need to make another appointment soon!

By listening to my words and observing my body language, Mata can identify areas where tension and friction have taken root. Using her knowledge and attentive approach, she releases what your body has been holding onto, providing a lasting sense of relief.

For me, her work has become an anchor in my life — a time to pause, reconnect, and nourish my body and soul. I leave every session feeling lighter, happier and with a spring in my step.
